The goal of these course modules, collectively, can be summed up in the following way. Technological innovations affect our sense of self in various ways, by being "other" to us -- allowing us to project what we do not like about ourselves onto others -- or by changing the relationship persons have with themselves. We know ourselves through media, through language, or pictures. As those things change and develop, and as other media come into existence, they affect our self-knowledge.
