Narrative: Plotting Our Lives
Find in the news, on the radio, in an advertisement, or in a true story, someone's use of the Cinderella fairy tale, either explicitly (a comparison to Cinderella is made directly) or implicitly (the story has the same structure as the Cinderella tale). Jot down the major events in the story and bring your example of "Cinderella" to class.
Select any story you have heard recently, whether a sitcom, a newstory, or merely gossip. Using the Tool for Learning Narrative Structures, create that story in a filmstrip of stick figures, adding captions whenever necessary.
Now write some portion of your autobiography using that tool. Come to class prepared to show the class your two stories.
