About the Date of the Ramadan Break-Fast Dinner

The date of this program honors the fact that this year (2007), the holy months of Ramadan (Islam) and Tishrei (Judaism) occur during the same lunar month (September 13-October 13).

Goals of event:

For students, faculty, staff and community members to break the Ramadan fast while meeting each other, breaking down barriers and building a community of understanding. The placement of the program on one of the days of Ramadan honors the Muslim holy month and the Jewish holy month of Tishrei (these months coincide this year). The program will also educate participants on the holy months of Ramadan and Tishrei as well as elements of fasting traditions in Christianity.
