The literature, as in any discipline, is the foundation upon which scholarship rests. Chapter 7 contains the bibliography and references that provide the scholarship that has proven useful in designing, implementing, and assessing the impact and outcomes of FLCs, including focus books and articles for particular FLCs. The following is a list of focus books used in Miami’s FLCs.
These books are given to the community members at their opening retreat. They read them over the summer or winter break. Opening seminars involve discussion of themes and issues raised in the focus book reading. These books provide important references to other works in the literature.
