6. Selection Procedures and Criteria for FLC Membership
Application. There are two points during the academic year that different types of FLC applications are involved.
The first is a call for applications for FLCs to offer in the next academic year. This application is completed by an applicant who wants to facilitate an FLC in the next academic year. If the
teaching and Learning Center houses the institution's FLC Program, then the Center puts out the call for these applications. At Miami University, this application is due on February 1 for FLCs that the
Center will sponsor in the next academic year. The application is online. Before the due date, the Center offers a seminar to discuss this application process with interested colleagues. From those
submitted, the Center staff then selects the FLCs to offer the next year. At Miami University there are usually 8 or 9 FLCs selected. Here is an example of such an application blank.
The second call for applications is made for each FLC that the Center has decided to offer. Applicants interested in participating in a given FLC apply for membership online. Applications
are due March 1. The facilitator of an FLC selects the members of that FLC. Here are some examples of such applications.
