About the Choose Ohio First Program:
There’s a critical need in Ohio and across the nation to increase the number of highly qualified science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers. So the State of Ohio in an effort to enhance its economic competiveness has embarked upon an ambitious program to boost the access and appeal of these teaching fields by funding special Choose Ohio First scholarships.
Miami University is in the final stages of the current COF Scholarship grant. New scholarships are only available for 2011-2012 for classroom teachers who attended the 2011 Summer Teacher Academy focused on students’ misconceptions in mathematics (EDT 697J) or science (EDT 697K).
Our 49 undergraduate COF Scholars will be supported through timely completion of their programs with $1500 COF Scholarship per academic semester as long as COF funds are available.
Ohio classroom teachers seeking financial support for advanced study and professional development are urged to apply for Miami’s TEAM Scholarship which supports a 50% reduction in tuition and general fees.
