Miami University’s new Alumni in Residence program welcomes renowned sports and entertainment executive Bobby Goldwater ’74 to campus this October.

During his visit, Goldwater will present a public lecture, “Every Game Counts."

The Alumni in Residence program allows divisions to invite prominent alumni back to campus for a 1 - 2 day visit to share their expertise with students and faculty.

Goldwater’s visit is sponsored by the College of Education, Health & Society, the Department of Kinesiology and Health, and Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM).

Goldwater is recognized as one of the most respected and innovative executives in the sports, entertainment and facility management industry. He has had a distinguished career with executive positions in New York City at Madison Square Garden, in Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center, and in Washington, D.C. as President and Executive Director of the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission.


Currently, Goldwater is the President of The Goldwater Group, a management and consulting company. He is also a part of the faculty at Georgetown University, teaching in their Master of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management program. He recently was honored with the GIGI Award of Excellence by the Event and Arena Marketing Conference for significant contributions to professionalize and educate event marketers within the live entertainment industry.


Goldwater graduated from Miami University in 1974, when he received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in American Studies. While at Miami Goldwater was actively involved in a variety of organizations and activities including The STUDENT, the oldest college newspaper in the United States, where he served as co-sports editor for two years and as editor-in-chief his senior year, and the Men’s Glee Club, in which he was the group’s vice president for two years and received the Scott Alexander Award as the Glee Club’s outstanding member.


Goldwater was also the recipient of the Gilson Wright Award as the University’s outstanding journalist in 1974. He was invited to give the Senior Last Lecture to Miami seniors in 2004.

The Alumni in Residence program is a collaborative effort of Career Services, divisional and departmental sponsors and the Development Office.
