The Antarctic Connection

Visit the special section of our website devoted to our recurring expeditions to Palmer Station, Antarctica, to learn more about how an amazing fly, Belgica antarctica, survives harsh polar conditions. This area includes a host of information, including researcher blogs, photos and video clips, research summaries, and more.

Museum Exhibit Project

We are creating a traveling exhibit, “Nature’s Frozen Marvels” to educate the general public about the little-known yet fascinating adaptation of natural freeze tolerance. The exhibit will be developed in collaboration with Miami University’s Center for Environmental Education/Hefner Zoology Museum and will be made available to various local and national not-for-profit institutions. A special Capstone Seminar (ZOO 400) will engage undergraduate students representing various academic disciplines (e.g., communication, engineering, psychology, natural sciences) in the task of designing the exhibit. For more information about the seminar, download this pdf. To apply for the seminar, complete and submit this form.
