To comply with federal
regulations and Miami policies, research involving
human subjects requires that researchers be familiar
with the ethical issues common to such work. In
addition to the required online training, all human
subjects research must be reviewed and the methods
approved for compliance with the standards of ethical
behavior.

When planning your
submissions to the Miami Research Ethics and Integrity
Office (MREI) IRB, please consider the annual
variability in application volume. Submissions in
Feb-March and September-October will be competing for
board and MREI office time to a greater extent than
other months.

Return to Research - Human Subjects
Research (HSR)- 28 May 20
In
preparation for returning to research
activities, researchers should begin planning
for how the research will be conducted safely.
If that research involves humans as subjects,
the safety of the researchers and the subjects
must be factored into the plans.
A form has
been developed specifically for IRB approved
(Level 2) or IRB exempted (Level 1) for
describing the precautions to be undertaken.
The form can be used for modifying existing
protocols or for use as an amendment to new
applications while COVID-19 restrictions are
present.
