The Third Island

The third island is much larger than the other two. You decide to walk to the center of the island. You don't find any fauna (birds, animals and insects) living in the middle of the island. Walking back to the coast, you discover a few spiders, scorpions, lizards, and insects, but not nearly as many as on the other islands. Overall the density of animals (number of animals per square meter) is much lower on this larger island than on the smaller two.

Finding dead seaweed washed up on the shore, you wonder why are there fewer animals on this island.

Study the Animals.
