Here are some firefighters batteling a fire. Do you think that it is windy there?

When winds are between five and 18 miles per hour the firefighters can predict where the fire will move. When the winds are steady they are much more predicable. Unlike when there is not enough wind, the firefighters don't have to let the fire burn as long to burn the same area so there is less chance of the plants being damaged from prolonged exposure to the fire.

The firefighters heard that relative humidity is very important when they conduct a prescribed burn. They need to know what the best relative humidity is for conducting a prescribed burn. Can you help them?

The best relative humidity for a prescribed burn is between 25 and 50 percent.

The best relative humidity is lower than 20 percent.

The best relative humidity is over 50 percent.
