Even though both of her parents have both the
dominant and recessive traits (which means they also have the dominant
trait, in this case, free earlobes), the girl had a one in four chance
of getting attached ear lobes. If you combine two sets of "Ffs" then
there is a one in four chance that their offspring will have the recessive
trait. It's rare, but it happens! That's how she can have attached
ear lobes even if her parents have free earlobes.

Dimples are natural dents to the right or left
of the mouth. Dimples do not include the creases in your face when
you smile. They are simply dents in your face. You are counted as
having dimples even if you have only one dimple. Dimples are a dominant
trait. This girl does not have dimples. We will use a big "D"
to represent the dominant trait of dimples. We will use a small "d"
to represent the trait of no dimples.
